Speedrunners at the top level are always competing but there's almost NEVER any enmity between them lol. they're usually friends! Most of the time they work together to come up with new strats and ideas to get the time lower, the competition comes in when it's time to execute. it's just good sportsmanship. most speedrunning communities are like this. it always shocks me to learn what people think speedrunning is like vs what the community actually is like in practice.
